What categories of membership are there?
Associate: For members who generally have less than two years’ experience in corporate communication. The category also includes printers, photographers, designers and others who wish to offer their services to fellow members.

Member (MCB Dip):  A member who has passed the association’s former examination.

Member (MCB):  A member who has given proof of professional ability and competence as required by the association.

Fellow (FCB): A member who is considered to be of the highest professional standing and achievement, who has had at least ten years’ experience in the field of corporate communication and has been in membership for at least five years.

Student: For full-time students at recognised educational establishments.

Group: To enable companies to ensure two or more of its employees gain the benefits of CiB membership. Group members enjoy a range of specific benefits – see below.

What does it cost? (last revised Feb 2008)

Note: VAT is payable on half of the membership fee, that is at 8.75%. Figures below are VAT exclusive.

Annual Student Membership: £26.25 (Member must be in full-time education in a communications-related discipline).

Individual Standard Membership: £178.50 plus £60 one-off joining fee. (The joining fee is waived when booking a place at the Annual Conference at the same time).

Retired membership: £37.80

Group Membership: for companies or organisations with two or more members, there is a sliding scale of discounts, as follows:

For Group 10 memberships and above, the joining fee is waived.

What are the benefits of Group membership?

  • Education and training sessions are available at reduced fees per person (minimum of six attendees) plus the trainer’s accommodation and travelling expenses at a group member's premises anywhere in the UK.
  • Advertising: 20% discount in advertising rates in “Communicators” Magazine
  • CiB Events: 10% discount off the advertised price of any CiB event as long as two people from the group member attend, with a 20% discount for a third or more delegates.
  • Awards: 10% discount for putting six or more entries into any of CiB’s annual Award categories.
  • Staff development: Group members may nominate a scheme member to sit on CiB national and regional committees to gain experience running events or activities.

What types of payments do you accept?
CiB can accept Mastercard, Visa, Switch or BACS payment or cheques, made payable to BACB.
