From conferences and special events, to policy launches and fund-raisers, anyone involved in the creation of speeches will benefit from understanding the theory and practice of constructing good speeches with powerful rhetoric.

Outline

The course uses contemporary political speeches to deconstruct the secrets of what works and why.

The course will enable participants to:

  • Prepare speeches and presentations
  • Structure a speech
  • Develop good story-telling techniques
  • Use language and rhetorical devices
  • Learn tricks and tips for greater impact
  • Practise writing and delivering a speech
  • Handle questions and answers

Numbers will be limited to ensure you receive individual attention.

About the trainer

Paul Wastell is a PR consultant, speechwriter and  trainer  with experience on both sides of the PR fence. He is a  former television producer, director and journalist with 22 years'  experience working in the  public and private sector. He trains chief  executives, senior managers,  ministerial speechwriters,  parliamentary advisers, corporate and public sector  communications  professionals. He set up PWC PR & Marketing  (www.pwc-pr.co.uk),  an independent consultancy, in 1999.
