Course: Business continuity workshop 4 June
Published: Mon, 07 May 2007, 18:15

Most organisations have well formulated plans in place for dealing with short-term emergencies; but the longer term implications of, for example, a major pandemic or terrorist action, are often not thought out.

This one day workshop focuses on the issues that need to be addressed, enabling delegates to subsequently develop a plan – and, in particular, the communications aspects - that will enable their organisations to continue operations in the face of a wide range of potential threats.

Aimed at: Senior communicators and other experienced business and/or professional people who will have a role in planning and managing emergency response, crisis management and longer term business continuity planning.

Workshop contents: The workshop will cover a broad range of business continuity issues including:-

  • The difference between emergency response, crisis management and business continuity and how they need to merge seamlessly in an overall plan.
  • Assessing the risks; what’s likely or just possible; what’s a major threat or just minor?
  • Assessing the risks; site(s), facilities, utilities, personnel.
  • Developing the plan; who needs to be involved; who does what and when?
  • Plan triggers and invocation authority?
  • Facilities required to implement the plan.
  • Command and control, liaison with other organisations and bodies including government and local government, liaison with customers and suppliers.
  • Public relations and reputation management issues.
  • Practical communications with staff, customers and other stakeholders.
  • ‘Stand down’ procedures.
  • Rehearsing and exercising the plan.
