The course is informal and interactive. It aims to build your confidence and interpersonal skills and extend your interviewing abilities. To ensure personal attention, we limit this course to eight delegates.
Objectives
- to help people interview with confidence and be better able to handle a wide range of interviews
- to show tips for handling difficult, reluctant or hostile interviewees with sensitivity and power
- to show how you can easily take control of an interview and direct it where you want it to go
- to examine the best way to get a spontaneous interview while still covering the main points.
Outline
How to build credibility and establish an equal relationship, whatever the status of the interviewee; how to structure your interview so the subject feels confident and willing to open up; the importance of your hunches and intuition; giving an interview the kiss of life; and more.
Your tutor
Judi Goodwin is a freelance journalist who has written for national newspapers and magazines for more than 20 years. She began her career in corporate communications with the Co-operative Wholesale Society and House of Fraser, and edited house journals for the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Association of Management and Professional Staff. She now specialises in house and lifestyle articles for Ideal Home, Your Home and Country Homes and Interiors. She holds the Certificate in Training and Development and is an associate member of the Institute of Training and Development.
