Course: Making information accessible 17 July

Date of course: 17 July, 16 October

Information is produced and disseminated by most organisations but how accessible are these documents? Whilst the content may be informative, many people may not be able to read or access the information due to the design, language, layout and typeface used.

This course looks at how information design and production can incorporate elements of accessibility to improve access for all. It provides a practical guide to accessibly designing documents which will be of long term benefit to many organisations and businesses.

Benefits
This is a practical course designed to encourage organisations to evaluate and assess the current information they produce with a view to improving accessibility.

Objectives
The course will include:

  • Opportunities to assess current design and content of information.
  • Provide practical advice and suggestions on how to improve accessibility.
  • Think about when, why and how information should be produced.
  • Allow opportunities to look at examples of good practice in accessibly produced information.
  • Provide a takeaway checklist to follow when working on future productions.
  • Provide information on the latest developments in accessible formats.

The course is open to anyone who either has a responsibility for producing information or an interest in learning more about accessible information provision.
