Professional Development

Delegates on a CiB Communications Foundation courseCiB continues to raise standards in the industry. Our professional training courses for internal communications professionals give members and non-members the skills and knowledge they need at all the different stages of their careers.

Alongside its standard programme of corporate communications training courses – with ‘clickable’ course titles on this website – the Association can also arrange bespoke, in-house courses for five or more people, enabling training and development to take place wherever it’s needed.

Any queries should be directed to sue@cib.uk.com or by phone to 01908 313966.

How do you know if you have the right skills?
We helped to create a unique framework that defined the knowledge, skills and direct experience needed by internal communication professionals during the different stages of their careers.

The CiB worked with The Work Foundation; The Internal Communications Alliance (linked with the Institute of Public Relations) and the IABC (The International Association of Business Communicators) to set out the knowledge and skils matrix - an industry-wide definition of the competencies needed to be an effective internal communicator. There are four bands - use the matrix as a guide to planning your personal development or to develop your team.

You can download the skills matrix, the competencies list and a suggested reading list from this web site (please note they are in Adobe PDF format).
